Orton-Gillingham International and Rising Tide Learning came together around a shared belief: every child can learn to read, and teachers deserve better tools to make it happen.
Structured literacy has decades of research behind it. AI has the potential to scale what great teachers do. OGI provides the instructional framework, RTL builds the technology, and together we're working to close the gap between what we know works and what students actually get in the classroom.
OGI and RTL didn't start with a business plan. They started with the same concern about how kids are being taught to read.
Rising Tide Learning started with a straightforward observation: early literacy instruction wasn't keeping up with what the research actually says. AI could help change that, but only if the instruction underneath it was solid.
OGI saw how RTL's tools could strengthen their programs and decided to take a closer look. The conversation that followed led to a partnership grounded in three things: rigor, accessibility, and respect for what the science of reading actually says.
Today, OGI and RTL are working through implementation across curriculum alignment, teacher training, and classroom tools, with real educator feedback shaping responsive instruction and what ships next.
"Fidelity to the learner and responsive instruction matter more than fidelity to a program for its own sake."
Those principles guide the implementation work now in progress, from curriculum alignment to the product decisions this partnership takes on next.
BabbleBot's technology is built on the same pillars that define great structured literacy instruction.
Phoneme-by-phoneme instruction built the way expert literacy educators actually teach it: systematic, sequential, and cumulative.
After each recording, the AI gives students feedback that helps phonemic awareness click.
Teachers can see exactly where each student is in the curriculum, making it easier to step in when someone needs help and recognize when they've made a real leap.
Programs built with English Learners in mind, with scaffolds that respect what students already know about language and meet them where they are.
Good literacy instruction has to work for every student in the room, not just the ones who pick it up quickly. Everything OGI and RTL build together starts from that assumption.
We take data responsibility seriously.
OGI and RTL are actively working on what comes next for teachers, students, and the broader literacy community.
Hands-on workshops and training that give educators both the instructional knowledge and the practical tools to use it.
Building out BabbleBot with more phonemic depth, more story variety, and a wider range of curriculum coverage.
Formal studies and outcome tracking to document what's working and share it with the broader literacy research community.
Whether you're a literacy coach, classroom teacher, or district administrator, we'd love to talk about how this can work in your context.
